‘Cool yet calming beauty’ for the heat under the mask

In Korea, people are wearing a facial mask all day in the scorching summer heatwave. Many complain that facial skin heat exposure aggravates their skin problems such as maskne, breakouts, redness, skin sensitivity, skin inflamation, etc. Hence, they are looking for cooling beauty products that can cool down their overheated faces quickly as well as provide calming effects. Cooling products that contain powerful soothing ingredients such as aloe vera, centella asiatica and azulene are sought-after.

When US TikTokers share their skin icing tips, in Korea some people also appear to be using sherbet-like frozen creams to sooth their exhausted skin from the heat and shrink enlarged pores. A few consumers even make their soothing gel ice cubes at home using their own products. They enjoy the non-irritant cooling sensation and appreciate its calming effect.

The face covering requirement has been extended indefinitely. High heat and humidity under the mask is considered a new skin enemy. It represents an opportunity for brands to meet consumers’ current needs.
